Babishai Niwe Poetry Foundation

Africa’s Ultimate Storyteller Contest is proud to announce a partnership with the Babishai Niwe Poetry Foundation. As a partner, Babishai Niwe Foundation will be leading the contest in Uganda.

About Babishai Niwe Poetry Foundation

The Babishai Niwe Poetry Foundation supports African poetry, through awards, poetry festivals, training, and publishing. Since 2009, we have trained and built capacity in poetry in four major regions in Uganda, Eastern Uganda, South Western Uganda, Western Uganda, and Central Uganda, targeting schools, tertiary institutions, and corporations. In Africa, approximately 5,000 upcoming and established poets have been reached, through our poetry and haiku awards, poetry festivals, publications, trainings, and Poetry in-Nature series.

From 2016, Babishai has held four successful Poetry-Nature series, combining tourism and conservation with poetry and the spoken word. Specific areas are Mt. Rwenzori, in Western Uganda, Mabira Forest in Eastern Uganda, Sipi Falls in Eastern Uganda and Lake Bunyonyi in Southwestern Uganda.
