Does this scar reduce my bride price by Esther Edet

About

Full Name: Esther Edet
Country Represented: Nigeria

In her story, Ester humorously recalls of an accident she had as a child that left her with a physical scar, as well as an emotional scar. Listen as she describes how she carried the burden of feeling unwholesome because of the mark she bared on her hand.

Why did you enter this storytelling contest?

A friend of mine sent me the flyer and at first, I questioned it because I’m only a good writer I don’t necessarily think myself to be a good storyteller.

She advised me to go ahead with it though, because of how facial I can be. Also, I decided it will be good to experience something different from what I’m used to.

I was surprised a contest like this existed. A platform for people who naturally can make a story/ gist come alive? I thought about it for a bit and then I got excited.

Also, I feel like I have enough stories to make it in this contest but the judges will decide that.

What does storytelling mean to you?

I generally enjoy writing stories, giving names life, and all of that. I have also been told that I’m good at relating past events to people. I was surprised how difficult it could be once there’s a camera involved. Storytelling didn’t mean so much to me until now. I can say that gisting did, though.

Why did you tell this story?

I’m not sure. It just came to me. Also, when I checked the guidelines on how to tell a good story, it fit. It had a lesson and a catch and even a scar to show. This is also one story I’ve had to tell over and over again, so I thought it’ll go smoothly.

Knew you was a wolf/lycan on the low cause ????I’ve never seen you on a full moon… ; There is no such thing as a coincidence👁️👁️.

Tell this platform all about your lycanthropy tribe or pack; me and mines will stand by all the ones that are not feral.

(This comment corny asl please but it comes from a good place.)

  4. The scar is real… This shows the effect of social conditioning that a kid is already thinking about Bride price at that age … This is dehumanizing to female folk . Are females only meant to be married off?… This story must see the light of day because it has so many underlying undertones to it.
