He points his right hand at the audience, mimicking a pistol. Then “boom! boom!” he shouts as the audience gasps in unison. That is how Gift decided to open his final story in the 2019 Ultimate Storyteller Contest.
For the next 7 minutes, Gift enthrals the capacity audience to a deeply personal tale that has everyone questioning what they would do in this same situation; would they forgive or would they take revenge?
At the end of that story, it was clear that there could only be one winner in the inaugural run of Africa’s Ultimate Storyteller Contest. And with that, Gift secures a win for Zimbabwe in the first-ever Ultimate storyteller contest.
