Thandwefika

Professionally, Thandwefika is an experienced SAP Consultant specialising on Digital Adoption strategies. He has helped businesses such as Anglo American, BHP Billiton and SASOL guide their employees through large scale system changes. Thandwefika is also an award-winning storyteller, whose work has earned him the title of Toastmasters Southern Africa Champion of Public Speaking 2019. Through his travels, he has sought and heard the many stories of ordinary Africans. These stories have had such an impact on him that he has come to believe that all Africans should travel their continent first. This has led him to cofound and chair Hadithi Ya Africa, an organisation that owns and administrates the biggest storytelling contest in Africa, and creates immersive excursions to numerous African countries. Through his touring company called Come Meet Africa, Thandwefika is on a crusade to make African travel more accessible to Africans so that they can tell their own story of Africa.

Familiarity by Violet Masilo

I chose this story because I am the story myself and I want to use it to inspire the world that we can be anything we want to be no matter out root. This story is everything to me. It reminds me of who I am and makes me realize that life is very simple and everyone is important to me no matter our background or race.

Through war-torn eyes by Shidoo Tarkaa

I am a village girl. Being conned was an experience that at first; I didn’t even know what happened and to be honest I didn’t know that there are con-artists and scammers and nobody told me of it.

Nothing is for free by Teresa Mutheu

This story is part 1 of a series I want to tell revolving around fire and surviving death – this was one of the lighter fire stories I have and I think it sets up a great precedent for the coming stories.

The roof is on fire by Xabiso Vili

I struggled with picking a story to tell but telling this one felt like I was closing a door to a phase of my life. Not closing it out of shame because a lot of things have happened since the occurrences in the story. So you could say this story was an avenue of reflection for me.
